eHealth and Telemedicine in the Global Society

		KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
		Prof. Dr. Francesco Sicurello President of IITM (International Institute of Tele-Medicine), coordinator of University Technological Centre in Desio-Monza, professor at the University of Milan, Macerata, Como and Milan Bicocca. Prof. Sicurello is a physicist (specialized in Cybernetics) having several years of experience in Medical Informatics and Telemedicine. He served as computer scientist, responsible at Desio Hospital for development of the epidemiological and medical information systems and researcher in clinical informatics and software for data analysis in medicine at Policlinic Hospital in Milan, before taking the lead of the Medical Informatics Unit at the Institute of Biomedical Technologies of Milan (National Council of Research). In 1992 he staged in the NATO-CNR program at Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, Baltimore. He was the director of the Informatics Service at National Institute of Neurology in Milan. Expert in health informatics and head of operating unit at the Health General Directorate (Research and Innovation Office) of Lombardia Region. He was the president of Italian Association in Telemedicine and Medical Informatics (@ITIM) and, since 2000, referent for Telemedicine in the Scientific and Technological Cooperation of Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. He is responsible of several research projects on Medical Informatics and Telemedicine, involved in Italian, European and International R&D Programmes. He authored some 400 publications (national and international) in Medical Informatics, Telemedicine and software for data analysis and mining, artificial neural networks, neuroinformatics and artificial intelligence, knowledge management and ontology in medicine.
		Prof. Dr. Yukako Yagi Director of the Pathology Imaging and Communication Technology Center at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA Yukako Yagi started her career as an electrical engineer at Nikon, Japan, to develop robotic microscopes and their applications. In 1995 she won a Nikon Fellowship for two research years in teleradiology and pathology at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. Back in Japan, she received her Ph.D. in 2007 from Tokyo Medical University, Tokyo. She was Director of Technologies Management at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she developed and implemented telepathology systems for organ transplantation, frozen section and 2nd opinion consultations. She established clinical and technical standards for whole slide imaging systems. Dr. Yagi came to Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, in 2007 and is now Director of the Pathology Imaging and Communication Technology Center at MGH. She is Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and the 1st President of the International Academy of Digital Pathology.
		Prof. Dr. Salem Abdel-Badeeh He is a professor emeritus since October 2007. Formerly he was the Director of Scientific Computing Center at Ain Shams University (1984-1990). His research includes intelligent computing, expert systems, biomedical informatics, and intelligent e-learning technologies. He has published around 300 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings in these areas. He has been involved in more than 300 conferences and workshops as a plenary speaker, member of International Program Committees, workshop/invited session organizer and Session Chair. He is author and co-author of 15 Books in English and Arabic Languages. He was Secretary of Egyptian Computer Society (1984-1990), Member of National Committee in Informatics Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (1992-200), Member of Egyptian Committee in the Inter-Governmental Informatics Program, IIP-UNESCO, Paris (1988-1990) and Coordinator of the Annual International Conference for Statistics, Scientific Computing, and Social and Demographic Research (1983-1990). He is a Member of the Editorial Board of many international and national Journals in the following countries. He is also member of many Int. Scientific Societies and associations worldwide. Recently, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Bio-Medical Informatics and e-Health (IJBMIeH), Egyptian Computer Science Journal (ECSJ) and Associate Editor of International Journal of Applications of Fuzzy Sets and Artificial Intelligence (IJAFSAI).
		Prof. Dr. Enrico M. Staderini Professor in Biomedical Technologies at the Haute École d'Ingénierie et de Gestion de l'État de Vaud HEIG-VD Western Switzerland University of Applied Sciences HES-SO (Industrial Automation Institute) in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland. After a combined career in the medical practice, the informatics and the biomedical devices industry, Enrico Staderini was invited professor in USA, Brazil, Norway and researcher in Italy teaching medical physics and biomedical engineering. His main research interests focus on UWB medical radars, rehabilitation engineering, biomedical electronics and assistive devices for the elderly and the handicapped people. Enrico Staderini earned a MD degree from the University of Rome, Italy. Then he got a specialization degree (postgrad) in biomedical engineering and a PhD in cardiovascular physiopathology from the same university. He qualified as EUCIP European Certification for Informatics Professionals. A registered physician in Italy, Norway and Switzerland, Enrico is a member of the IEEE, the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering (SSGB), the Bern based BioMedical Engineering Club and the Swiss Electromagnetics Research & Engineering Center (SEREC).
		Prof. Dr. Najeeb Al-Shorbaji Director, Department of Knowledge Management and Sharing, World Health Organization (WHO) He has been working as Director, Department of Knowledge Management and Sharing at the World Health Organization Headquarters (WHO/HQ) in Geneva since September 2008. Prior to that he held the posts of Information Scientist, Regional Advisor for Health Information Management and Telecommunication and Coordinator for Knowledge Management and Sharing at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office since February 1988. Prof Al-Shorbaji holds a PhD in Information Sciences. His current portfolio covers WHO publishing activities and programmes, library and information services, knowledge networks, eHealth, knowledge translation and WHO Collaborating Centres. He is a member of a number national and international professional societies and associations specialised in information management and health informatics. He has authored over 80 research papers and articles presented in various conferences and published in professional journals.
		Prof. Antoine Geissbuhler Professor and Chairman, eHealth and Telemedicine, Geneva University and Hospitals, Switzerland Trained as a physician at Geneva University, specialized in internal medicine, then, after a post-doctoral fellowship, became Associate Professor of medical informatics at Vanderbilt University before returning to Geneva to lead the Medical Informatics Division at Geneva University Hospitals. Author of more than 100 original scientific publications. Focuses on the development of innovative, knowledge-enabled information systems and computer-based tools for improving the quality, safety and efficiency of care processes, at the local level of the hospital, the regional level of a community healthcare informatics network, and at the global level with the Health-On-the-Net Foundation and with the development of a large telemedicine network in Africa.
		Prof. Judita Kinkorová Manager of the National Information Centre of the European Research (NICER). National Contact Point (NCP) for Health and INCO (International Cooperation) Prague, Czech Republic Judita Kinkorová graduated from the Charles University Prague, Faculty of Sciences, with the specialization in mathematics and biology. She received her Ph.D. in agricultural and forest fytopatology from the Czech Agricultural University Prague. In December 2007 she was promoted to an associated professor at Slovac University of Agriculture in Nitra. Before she joined Technology Centre AS CR, she had worked at Research Institution of Plant Production, and at Charles University, Prague, Department of Zoology. Judita Kinkorova went through many international working stays during her work experience (USA, Canada, Taiwan, Israel, Switzerland, Great Britain, Italy). In 2002 she was sent as an expert OECD in biological control of weeds to the USA. She is a manager of the two European projects Fit for Health (www.fitforhealth.eu), and Health-NCP-Net (www.healthncpnet.eu).
		Prof. Dr. P.S. Prasad Dandamudi Programme Director, Life Science Course, JNTUK Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India Dr. P.S Prasad studied in Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada and graduated in 1977. After Completing internship he moved to USA in 1978 and still living in USA. He specialized in Occupational health & medicine. He got another postgraduate degree in environmental science and health administration as well as PhD in preventive medicine from Loma Linda University, California, USA. At present he is Programme Director, Life Science Course in the field of Life Sciences Technologies and Research.
